Painted by Franklyn Bassford and lithographed by the famous firm of Currier & Ives in 1886, the America's Cup victory of MAYFLOWER over challenger GALATEA is celebrated in this marine narrative view. It is captioned with "Crossing the Bow of GALATEA in their First Race for the 'America's Cup' over the Inside Course New York Bay, Sept. 7th, 1886".
