Sweethearts, Sailor & Wife in Floral Heart
Antique Scrimshaw Whale Tooth with Ship & Florals

6" Length with 2 1/4 max. diameter  Circa 1850 

Scimshaw whale tooth with a sailor and his wife within a floral heart at the base, with a full-rigged ship and floral designs above. The other side has a array of the Royal Arms of Great Britain with flags and the motto of The Most Noble Order of the Garter, the oldest order of knighthood in Great Britain, "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", in a oval. A banner beneath reads "DIEU ET MON DROIT" which is the motto of the British Sovereign, "God and my (birth)right.
