Long Bio :	<p>Born and schooled in South Abington (now Whitman), Massachusetts, Smith later was pupil to Frank Benson, Philip L. Hale & Edmund C. Tarbell at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. He also attended the Central Ontario School of Design in Toronto & Art Students League, New York City.</p><p> In New York he was an illustration artist contributing to magazines such as Outdoors, Field & Stream, and Yachting as well as the Boston dailies Globe, Herald & Journal. During the first world war, he painted camouflage in Philadelphia & New York. After the war, he devoted his talents to become a fine marine painter. He settled in at Hingham, Mass. With his wife and became a rather noted local art celebrity.</p><p> He was especially fond of the great clippers, but he also painted schooners and whalers. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed sailing among his pastimes. His works are informed with an authentic firsthand appreciation for the sea and its ships. Prolific in output, his works are achieving wide recognition.</p>
