Long Bio :
Born 1934 in Kingston-upon-Thames, England, RON DRUETT has been a Kiwi since 1962 and now resides in Wellington, New Zealand. Mostly self taught, he has literally drawn and painted all his life, learning from books and by experimenting. He had a career in the electrical construction industry until the mid 1980's when he retired and started painting full time. Although he is known as a maritime artist and comes from a sea going family, his maritime experience is limited to going one and a half times around the world by sea via the Cape of Good Hope and the Suez and Panama Canals. He has completed a term as Artist in Residence at the William Steeple Davis Trust, Orient, New York, U.S.A. (1994 - 1996). His work has been exhibited at the Eisenhauer Gallery on Martha's Vineyard, MA. U.S.A. since the year 2002. At the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, Connecticut, U.S.A., his work has been accepted for the following exhibitions, "Four Artists" (featured artist exhibition), fifteen "International Exhibitions", four "Modern Marine Masters" and "America And The Sea". His paintings and illustrations are held in collections in the United States, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, and, have appeared in several publications and television programs. He was accepted as an Artist Member of the American Society of Marine Artists for the duration of his residency in the United States.
