This 18th century telescope has vellum exterior with embossed designs and horn eyepiece and rings. Marked Leonardo Semitecolo for the famed Venetian optician. It is known his laboratory was located in Venice at the Fondamenta dell'Osmarin in San Zaccaria at number 4100, currently 4964 in Piazza San Marco.
He was important in the field of optics for having invented and built this particular type of terrestrial telescope, characterized by a structure made up of four cardboard tubes.
