The vessel name on this bell is SHEAF MOUNT. There were four ships that sailed under this name for the Sheaf Steam Shipping Co. of Newcastle, a company which started in business in 1906 and sailed under that name until 1976 when their business and ships were acquired by other interests. We think it's likely the bell came from the 1944 vessel but we're not sure. Here's the info on all of them: SS Sheaf Mount (completed 1914), in service 1919–30 SS Sheaf Mount (completed 1924), in service under this name 1939–42, Sunk by a German U-Boat in WWII MV Sheaf Mount (completed 1944), in service 1945–57,IMO number: 5022716 MV Sheaf Mount (1965), in service 1965–72,IMO number: 6500959
There is a slight chip at the bottom of the bell which is pictured but otherwise it's in good shape. It's a nice big bell at 14 1/2 inches high and 15 1/4 inches at largest diameter.
