An excellent early US Naval Bell. Large, solid and with a loud and clear tone and an excellent aged patina. Weight approximately 175lbs.
The earliest records of Joshua Regester are from circa 1845 when he was partner in Clampett and Regester aka Baltimore Bell and Brass Works though it's said that they didn't label their pieces with that company name. Records indicate Joshua Regester was in business under his own name prior to that but do not list start and end dates. Later he would go on to found Joshua Regester and Sons, who were well known in the Baltimore area and surrounding states for making large bells of quality including bells for the Naval Academy in Annapolis and for the Baltimore City Hall.
