This great American Naval cutlass is covered in American symbols. The pommel is an eagle's head leading to three openwork wreaths which form the guard and hold the Naval Anchor. The guard is delicately cast and the openwork shows quality workmanship.
The blade is engraved with American motifs as well as great decorative engraving. On one side there is a version of the Great Seal of the United States- a bald eagle with its wings outstretched, a shield with the stars and stripes on its chest. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in its left talon and an olive branch in its right talon. Above the eagle is a scroll with the motto: E pluribus unum ("Out of Many, One") and the eagle holds the end of the scroll in his beak. Below the eagle on the same side the blade reads "warranted" - a guarantee of the sword's soundness. The other side has more decorative motifs and a full figure of Lady Liberty.
Blade length: 31 inches
