History of the Vessel: Built by the renowned Danish Shipyard Burmeister & Wain for the Holm & Wonsil Ship Company of Copenhagen in 1930. The SASS was a type of shelter deck freighter – the upper deck had no overhead protection from the elements, but it sheltered the deck below. Her overall length for 365 feet, beam 53 feet and a draft of 33 feet.
