A well-made antique instrument of rosewood, the ivorine plates on this instrument mark from 27 to 31, stormy to fair, and are signed with the maker's information of D. McGregor, and indicate that the user should set each mark every morning at 10 am for the new day and mark yesterday's as well.

While there is no mercury left in the barometer glass tube, the sympiesometer still holds some of its brackish fluid and the orignal mercury thermometer is in working order. Never the most precise of instruments, these gimbal mounted ship's barometers are still sought after throughout the world.
