One of the stalwart and diverse warships of the American Navy during World War II, this 1940s light cruiser is in active duty front and center of this Era show of American Naval might by an artist well familiar with this branch of service, Arthur Beaumont. BROOKLYN launched first in 1946 followed by SAVANNAH, NASHVILLE, PHILADELPHIA, HONOLULU, PHOENIX and BOISE. Served in the final months of World War II, most of these ships were sold to navies through South America, and continued to write their international stories.

With its striking coloration, this painting is in excellent condition. Beaumont is a premier American artists in this difficult media, and could present a level of detail when using such that is to be marveled over for his precision and accuracy. The scene is complete with other naval ships and a sailing outrigger racing alongside in the dramatic swells and wake of the massive warships. Beaumont's skill with fluid watercolors to still depict accuracy scale and details is to be admired.
