A rare subject for a period image, this West Coast Whaling scene was originally designed by B. Russell of New Bedford, and it was made into a lithograph by A. Mayer and printed by Le Merrier of Paris. The ship is shown in two-positions, both cutting in the whale and on her "Homeward Bound" voyage.
