Sarah Bowater was a 6600 ton single screw steam newsprint carrier launched in 1955 by Denny Dumbarton for the Bowater Paper Corporation Limited. Home ported in London, the Bowater was used to transport the company's manufactured paper goods world-wide. This vessel had an overall length of 395 feet with a beam of 58 feet 6 inches and a depth of 35 feet 6 inches. Her single propeller drove the Bowater at a maximum speed of 14 knots. This well crafted model shows all of the ship's detail with excellent attention to the deck layout and machinery. On the aft cabin house, one of the ship's massive bronze propellers has been stored most likely as a spare. |
