1/8 inch =1 foot scale. The model’s hull is built up from the solid in lifts, with a painted brick red bottom and grey topsides, rudder, and two brass propellers. Nickel-silver plated fitting throughout including companionways, winches, ventilators, anchors, steering, radar antennae and navigation instruments, davits and handrails and stanchions, and fully rigged cargo cranes and booms, in grey and black livery with the ship's name painted on the side, in later glazed mahogany case with a great looking original makers plaque.

History of the Vessel:
Built by the renowned Danish Shipyard Burmeister & Wain for the Holm & Wonsil Ship Company of Copenhagen in 1930. The SASS was a type of shelter deck freighter – the upper deck had no overhead protection from the elements, but it sheltered the deck below. Her overall length for 365 feet, beam 53 feet and a draft of 33 feet.
