This is type 2 aluminum alloy, circa 1946

Inscription on display block reads: “Arthur Kovalovsky Big Game Reel- 9/0 reel complete with it’s original linen line. Arthur and his brother Oscar manufactured big game reels for the rich and famous from their shop in Hollywood, California. The reel featured here is identical to the one on page 96 of Silvio Calabi’s book on antique fishing tackle”, also pictured on page 19, figure 12, book “A conversation with Oscar Kovalovsky” by Robert Douglas and Larry Lauve.
