6 1/2 inch instrument, 1 1/4 inch dial face

Circa 1890

Spinning Propeller Depth Sounder by Thomas Walker and Son, Ltd., with brass makers plate, 58 Oxford st., Birmingham. Stamped S 2794. Dial measured from 0 to 30 fathoms, on a two-foot cord lead tied to a 5 pound lead weight. Really a fine depth sounding instrument in a rare smaller size, 6 1/2 inches with 2 1/4 red-painted brass over the white dial.
