Case: 17 x 13 1/2 x 4 inches

Circa 1940s

Models like these were made for US Navy sailors to identify other vessels at sea when the ability to differentiate between ally and enemy ships at a glance was vital. Each model is attached to a piece of wood that slips into slots in the case so they can be transported.

This set bears a maker’s label- H.A. Framburg of Chicago, Il. Each ship’s name and class are stamped on the bottom of their wood base. 28 models included.
