Case: 11 1/4 inches high x 7 3/4 wide x 8 deep

Circa 1890

This late 19th century compass is set inside its original fine mahogany case which bears the mark of maker James Morton of Sunderland & South Shields, England. Inside the gimballed compass is in good working order and it also bears the same makers mark. The compass can be viewed either through the small doors on the face of the case in inclement weather or the case can be opened completely as shown in the photos.
