This fine brass wall clock was manufactured by the luxury clock maker Chelsea of Boston, Massachusetts. The clock’s eight inch face has the maker’s mark along with the mark of the retailer, Southwest Instrument Company, San Pedro. San Pedro is best known for being home to the Port of Los Angeles, one of the largest commercial ports in the United States as well as being adjacent to naval installations in nearby Long Beach.

Serial number 480041, which dates this clock to 1945.

Chelsea Clocks were a mainstay of the US Navy and can be found in some of the great US collections including the White House.
