A fine wood and brass telescope within its original mahogany case.

The telescope is marked US Navy circle R, 9702 and Blunt, New York on the first draw. Blunt were well-known instrument makers for over a century, starting in 1770. There are Blunt Instruments in many museums including the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and The Mystic Seaport Museum.
